ecomaine is Actively Seeking to Buy Recyclable Materials From Outside Sources
ecomaine, located in Portland, is currently paying a per ton rate for:
- Cardboard
- Residential mixed paper
Additionally, ecomaine will revenue share for single sort tonnage.
The per ton rate is based on the Board Market Report "Yellow Sheet" and is subject to change the first of each month. The purchase of recyclable material is open to Cities and Towns as well as businesses and recycling haulers.
Mixed conatiners, such as plastic, aluminum, steel cans and glass are accepted from outside the ecomaine service area for processing. Please contact our office to discuss this option further.
To become a recycling customer or for more information on setting up a recycling program in your community call Missi Labbe, Business Development Manager at (207) 773-1738. Prior to the first delivery, an account should be established. ecomaine will then track each delivery and process a check at the close of each month.

For this reason, a full time Recycling Coordinator is employed to assist you in establishing and/or growing your recycling program. ecomaine's Recycling Coordinator is also available to participate in town meetings or other events to answer questions and create greater awareness of your recycling program.
- Recycling Education—ecomaine will provide on going educational information that may be passed on to residents and customers. This information may take the form of postcards, brochures or other printed materials.
- Educational Outreach—Because ecomaine is also committed to educating young people about the benefits of recycling; we offer educational programs and information to the schools in your community.
- Single Sort Recycling—Single Sort is a fast and simple way for you to collect recycled material. No sorting means less space and fewer labor costs, which translate into less cost to your community or business.
- ecomaine Accepts a Wide Variety of Materials—The more material your residents/customers can remove from the waste stream the less solid waste there is for disposal. There is no disposal fee for recycling unlike waste. We accept all #1-#7 plastics and many other materials.

- Recycling Data Management—ecomaine carefully tracks recycling data. As a municipally owned company, we are familiar with the special reporting requirements of cities and towns. ecomaine will be happy to provide a format that serves your needs.
