ecomaine is ISO 14001: 2015 certified by TUV Rheinland of North America. ecomaine strives for environmental stewardship as part of its daily activities and the EMS offers a mechanism to identify ways to minimize our impact on the surrounding environment and to pursue continuous improvement.
ecomaine has a strong history of attaining environmental distinction. In March 2002, the Waste-to-Energy Facility received its certification. The Recycling Plant soon followed when it received its own certification in October 2002. The Landfill/Ashfill was certified in March 2007. ecomaine’s facilities were early pioneers in the solid waste industry to achieve this certification. The success of the EMS is shared throughout all personnel of ecomaine with valuable participation from the EMS Work Group. The EMS Work Group is composed of employees from each sector of ecomaine (ie: operations, maintenance, landfill, etc). The Work Group meets monthly to identify environmental aspects, pursue continuous improvement, and review objectives and targets. ecomaine continues to demonstrate the commitment and capability to fulfill its environmental policy – compliance, communication, continuous improvement, and protection of the environment – as part of daily business.
