Engaging the Next Generation of Sustainability Leaders
Tackling the challenges of sustainable waste management will require sharp minds, agile collaboration, and driven leadership. ecomaine is excited to launch a project that will help build the foundation for a new generation of sustainability innovators: the Student Sustainability Leadership Council. Connecting young leaders from around the state with each other and with rising leaders in the field, the SSLC is poised to inspire high school students to pursue projects and careers that will transform the industry’s future.
Our Mission
The Student Sustainability Leadership Council (SSLC)’s mission is to educate and empower Maine’s next generation of environmental advocates. The council connects high school juniors & seniors from communities across the state to collaborate, share ideas, and learn directly from professionals in the fields of waste management, conservation, advocacy, and sustainability. With hands-on academic and professional development opportunities, the SSLC lays a foundation for students to build successful, rewarding careers in sustainability.
