"Wishcycling" - the practice of tossing materials in your recycling bin without knowing whether they are truly recyclable - has many impacts on the recycling process. From plastic grocery bags, to styrofoam, to loose bottle caps, and more, commonly "wishcycled" items are easy to come by, and confusing to dispose of properly. This presentation explores the ins and outs of recycling, the many impacts of wishcycling on the recycling process, a behind the scenes look at ecomaine's single-sort recycling facility, and a glimpse of what's ahead.
Did you know? Over 40% of all plastics made every year are designed to be used only once. Join us for a workshop that will cover the ins and outs of plastic waste and single-use plastic swaps. Attendees will also learn how to make their own reusable food wrap from fabric scraps and beeswax, a great alternative to plastic wrap and foodware.
