Battery Safety Webinar from Call2Recycle

The ecomaine Team
Published: February 17, 2021 | Last Updated: February 17, 2021

Following a recent fire at ecomaine sparked by an improperly-disposed-of lithium-ion battery – in which, thankfully, no one was hurt – ecomaine hosted Sean Plasse, Regional Program Manager from Call2Recycle, for a webinar to discuss battery safety, disposal, and messaging.

Call2Recycle administers over 16,000 collection sites in the United States and Canada, working on behalf of corporate stewards to optimize collections, share experience and expertise, and responsibly manage the end-of-life of batteries and other material. Sean provided insight on the rapidly-increasing prevalence of rechargeable batteries, and how the technology, while moving forward technology and our society by leaps and bounds, is also one that presents significant challenges to the waste management industry.
